BJP Mahila Morcha holds rally in Pimpri-Chinchwad to hail women’s reservation law

Pimpri : The BJP Mahila Morcha in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Friday organised a large rally at Chapekar Chowk to welcome the passage of the 106th Constitutional Amendment, also known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, aimed at providing reservation for women in legislatures.

Led by city Mahila Morcha president and former corporator Sujata Palande, the rally saw participation from hundreds of women who raised slogans in support of women’s empowerment and the new legislation. Party leaders, including city BJP chief Shatrughan Kate and MLC Uma Khapre were present. During the program a signature campaign was conducted, and organisers said around 5 thousand letters would be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing gratitude for the move.

Addressing the gathering, Khapre said the law would ensure greater participation of women in policymaking and called it a “transformative step” for women’s progress. Palande said the long-pending demand for women’s reservation had finally been fulfilled, adding that the provision of 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies would strengthen women’s role in governance.

Kate said the legislation was not just about reservation but recognition of women’s capabilities, and would pave the way for more women to take on leadership roles.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation, with women carrying the tricolour and placards supporting the legislation. Organisers also appealed to citizens to show support for the initiative by giving a missed call on a designated number.

Several party office-bearers, former corporators and workers were present at the event.
