Pimpri : Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Ravi Landge, along with Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, inspected several major Ganesh Visarjan ghats across the city on Friday to review cleanliness, safety and civic facilities ahead of the immersion processions.
The inspection covered Subhash Ghat in Pimpri, Ahilyadevi Holkar Ghat, Vetal Maharaj Ghat, Sangvi, Wakad Gaothan Ghat, Thergaon Bridge Ghat in Chinchwad, Jadhavwadi Ghat, Ravet, Indrayani River Ghat and Moshi Quarry.
Landge directed officials to ensure adequate lighting, drinking water, sanitation, Nirmalya collection, signboards, artificial immersion tanks and crowd-management arrangements at all locations. He also stressed keeping entry and exit routes clear and ensuring additional manpower at crowded ghats.
Officials were instructed to keep lifeguards, CCTV systems, fire brigade and disaster-management teams ready and to ensure electrical installations at the immersion sites are safe.
Commissioner Dr Suryawanshi directed all departments and regional officers to coordinate closely and complete pending arrangements before the immersion day.
The civic administration also appealed to citizens to use artificial immersion tanks for small idols and avoid disposing of Nirmalya or other puja material in rivers and other water bodies.
