Thergaon Cancer Hospital Project Reviewed by Abhishek Barne

  • Advanced cancer care to be made affordable for all

Pimpri : Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne reviewed the ongoing construction of a major cancer hospital in Thergaon on April 30, aimed at providing affordable treatment to patients from economically weaker sections.

During the visit, Barne inspected key facilities including parking, security, oxygen and water supply systems, and overall infrastructure planning. He also directed officials to maintain quality and ensure timely completion of the project.

The hospital will be equipped with advanced technology such as a linear accelerator, brachytherapy units, and PET-CT scanners. It will offer comprehensive cancer care, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgeries, counselling, and rehabilitation under one roof. Specialized treatment will be available for breast, lung, colorectal, prostate, and cervical cancers.

Importantly, treatment costs will be aligned with the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and central government schemes, making services free or highly affordable for underprivileged patients.

On the occasion, senior medical officer Dr. Rajendra Firke was felicitated for his dedicated service upon retirement.

“Cancer treatment is often unaffordable for common people. This hospital will provide world-class facilities at minimal or no cost, ensuring no patient is denied treatment due to financial constraints.”
