Hundreds of Fish Found Dead in River at Pimple Nilakh

– AAP’s Raviraj Kale demands action against those allegedly releasing polluted water into river

Pimpri : Hundreds of fish were found dead in the Mula River near Ingawale Chowk in Pimple Nilakh, raising concerns over possible water pollution in the area.

Raviraj Kale, State President of the youth wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleged that untreated and chemical-laced water may have been discharged into the river by illegal factories, commercial establishments or sewage treatment plants (STPs). He demanded that the civic administration and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) investigate the incident and take strict action against those responsible.

Kale said the large number of dead fish found floating in the river during the monsoon was a serious concern. He alleged that the discharge of polluted water could have reduced oxygen levels in the river, potentially resulting in the death of aquatic life. The incident has also reportedly led to a foul smell in the Ingawale Chowk and adjoining riverbank areas, causing concern among local residents.

Kale has demanded that the PCMC Environment Department and MPCB officials immediately visit the site and collect water samples for laboratory testing. He also called for identification of the source of the suspected pollution and registration of cases against those found responsible under applicable environmental laws.

He further demanded that the civic health department remove and safely dispose of the dead fish to prevent any health risk. He also sought inspection of CCTV footage in the area and deployment of a special surveillance team to monitor possible illegal discharge into the river.

“Rivers are lifelines, but administrative negligence is turning the city’s rivers into drains,” Kale said in a press statement. He warned that if the PCMC and MPCB failed to take immediate action, the AAP would launch a protest at the municipal headquarters.
