Barne issues directives to officials on Thergaon Butterfly Garden project

  • PCMC Standing Committee chief reviews work, stresses timely completion and better amenities

Pimpri : A proposed Butterfly Garden in Ward No. 23 is gathering pace, with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Standing Committee chairman Abhishek Barne carrying out a site inspection along with civic officials, signalling progress on a project aimed at boosting green cover and urban biodiversity in the area.

The garden, which has been in the pipeline for several years, has finally gained momentum after consistent follow-up efforts. The work is currently in progress and is expected to transform the area into a vibrant green space for residents.

During the inspection, Barne issued key instructions to ensure that the garden is developed as a clean, attractive, and well-equipped public space. He emphasized the need for separate sanitation facilities for men and women, increasing the number of trees, and reviewing the drainage system in the vicinity for better planning.

He also directed officials to provide adequate seating arrangements for senior citizens, deploy security personnel at the main entrance, and ensure proper parking facilities. Additionally, he stressed the importance of establishing a structured maintenance schedule to keep the garden clean and functional. Special focus was laid on planting native flowering plants and medicinal species that would attract butterflies and birds, enhancing the ecological value of the park.

Garden Superintendent Yogesh Walunj, Assistant Garden Superintendent Rajesh Vasave, Garden Inspector Sunil Nale, Garden Assistant Hanumant Chakanakar, garden department official Arvind Kadam, Deputy Engineer Ramesh Jintikar, Junior Engineer Vikas Gosavi, along with former corporator Sandeep Gade and several local representatives and party workers were present.
