MLC Amit Gorkhe Demands Probe Into Alleged Violations at Dhayari Project
Pune : Maharashtra Legislative Council member Amit Gorkhe has demanded a high-level inquiry and strict criminal action against the developer, architect and officials allegedly responsible for serious violations at the Majestic Venice project in Dhayari.
Gorkhe had complained to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and raised the issue in the Legislative Council, alleging violations of environmental and town planning laws at Survey Nos. 48/1 to 48/16.
According to a written clarification submitted by the PMC City Engineer’s Office on June 22, 2026, the project had environmental clearance for 50,452.97 sq m of construction on a 17,790.75 sq m plot. However, the clarification reportedly indicates that only 29,985.11 sq m had been covered under the pre-construction approval submitted to the environment authorities.
Gorkhe alleged that the developer subsequently completed around 50,452 sq m of construction without obtaining renewed environmental clearance and the required Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). Despite this, the PMC issued a Full Occupancy Certificate for the project on July 12, 2022.
He also alleged that the developer and architect failed to submit the required environmental clearance documents while seeking revised construction permission and the occupancy certificate.
Gorkhe said the PMC’s clarification supports the allegations raised in his complaint and demanded criminal action against the developer, architect and officials found responsible. He also called for a high-level inquiry and cancellation of permissions granted by the Environment Department, MPCB and PMC if violations are established.
He further sought scrutiny of an alleged ₹7–8 crore discrepancy in the project cost and demanded submission of the audited balance sheet. “The issue cannot be closed merely by imposing a nominal penalty. Those responsible must face strict action, including criminal proceedings,” Gorkhe said.
