PMRDA Faces Heat Over Illegal Plotting in Kuruli
- BJP leader alleges official-builder nexus, seeks probe and strict action
Pune : Alleging a possible nexus between PMRDA officials and developers involved in unauthorised plotting and construction, Pune city BJP Workers’ Front president Onkar Kadam has submitted a representation to the PMRDA Commissioner seeking immediate action against illegal activities in Kuruli, Khed taluka.
The representation concerns Gat No. 233/1 in Kuruli, where unauthorised plotting and construction are allegedly being carried out without the required prior permissions, approved layout or building permission.
Kadam alleged that the issue had previously been brought to the notice of concerned PMRDA officials through repeated personal visits and written representations. However, no effective action has reportedly been taken against the unauthorised development. The representation further alleges that some officials may be providing direct or indirect support to those carrying out the construction.
Kadam warned that continued inaction against unauthorised construction in the PMRDA jurisdiction could lead to serious urban planning problems in the future, similar to those witnessed in Kudluwadi. He questioned who would be held responsible if such unregulated development creates major civic and public safety issues.
The representation also raised concerns about people being allegedly lured into purchasing plots through misleading information or promises of future development. It said ordinary citizens often invest their life savings in plots with the hope of building homes and could suffer significant financial losses if the plots are unauthorised.
Kadam has demanded that PMRDA conduct an immediate inspection of Gat No. 233/1 and verify all land records, plotting-related documents, permissions and layout approvals. If violations are found, strict action should be taken against those responsible, he said.
He has also sought an inquiry into allegations of delay despite repeated complaints and demanded disciplinary action against officials found responsible for failing to act within time.
