PCMC’s Tax Department Sets New Record; Rs. 947 Crore Collected in FY 2025–26
- Over 6.27 Lakh Property Owners Pay Taxes; Mayor and Commissioner Thank Citizens
Pimpri : The Tax Collection and Assessment Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has once again achieved a major milestone by collecting a record ₹947 crore in property tax during the financial year 2025–26.
This marks the second time that the civic body has crossed the ₹900 crore mark, establishing a significant benchmark for the department. Out of the total 7.32 lakh registered properties in the city, as many as 6,27,790 property owners paid their taxes.
PCMC currently has around 7.32 lakh properties, including residential, non-residential, industrial, and other categories. The number of taxpayers has shown a steady increase each year, indicating improved compliance and awareness among citizens.
Last year, the civic body had collected ₹940 crore in property tax. However, officials noted that tax collection efforts were impacted this year as staff were engaged in election-related duties for nearly three months. Otherwise, the collection could have surpassed ₹1,000 crore.
Over the past year, the department undertook strict measures against defaulters, including property seizures, disconnection of water connections, publishing names of major defaulters in newspapers, and extensive awareness campaigns through hoardings, pamphlets, social media videos, and public announcements. These efforts significantly contributed to the record collection.
To facilitate taxpayers, both online and offline payment options were made available. The department also conducted door-to-door visits, issued notices, and implemented pre-attachment actions to recover pending dues.
Strong Response to Amnesty Scheme
Under the Abhay (Amnesty) Scheme introduced to provide relief to defaulters, a total of 83,470 property owners availed the benefit between March 1 and March 31. During this 31-day period, ₹197.18 crore in property tax was collected.
Taxpayers received a total rebate of ₹45.13 crore under the scheme, offering significant financial relief while boosting municipal revenue.
