55,731 Defaulters Avail Abhay Scheme; PCMC Collects Record ₹157 Crore in 29 Days
Pimpri : The Abhay Scheme launched by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has received a strong response, with 55,731 property tax defaulters availing the scheme benefits as of March 29, 2026.
Since the scheme began on March 1, 2026, the civic body has collected a record ₹157.21 crore in property tax within just 29 days. Under the scheme, the municipal corporation offered a 90% waiver on penalty charges, encouraging defaulters to clear their dues.
A total of 68,488 property owners paid their property tax during this period, and defaulters received penalty relief worth ₹38.81 crore, providing major financial relief to citizens while significantly increasing municipal revenue.
The scheme will end on March 31, 2026, and citizens with pending property tax dues have been urged to make payments before the deadline to avail the final benefit. Special recovery drives are being conducted across 18 ward offices, and payment facilities including online payment, cheque, and cash counters have been made available. Cash counters will remain open from 10 am to 10 pm on March 31.
Mayor Ravi Landge said the scheme has strengthened the municipal financial system while providing relief to citizens. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi stated that the scheme has significantly improved tax recovery and appealed to remaining defaulters to take advantage of the last opportunity.
