BJP Opposes Property Transfer Fee Hike in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri : BJP city president and corporator Shatrughan Kate has strongly opposed the increase in property name transfer fees imposed by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and demanded that the 0.5% fee be immediately cancelled.
Kate submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi and Mayor Ravi Landge. He is stating that the 0.5% fee on the total market value of property is very high and unfair for common citizens. He pointed out that citizens already pay heavy stamp duty and registration charges while purchasing property, and the additional municipal transfer fee is creating a double financial burden.
He also warned that due to high transfer charges, many citizens may avoid registering property transfers in municipal records, which could affect the civic body’s revenue in the future.
Kate demanded that the current 0.5% property transfer fee be scrapped and the earlier nominal fee system be reintroduced to provide financial relief to citizens and make the transfer process easier and more transparent. He also stated that the party would continue to follow up with the administration and may launch a democratic protest if the decision is not revised.
