“Traders Unite Against Copyright Raid Actions : Shrichand Asvani”

  • Traders Use Shutdown as Protest Against Copyright Raids

Pimpri : Traders in Pimpri Camp allegedly faced harassment from officials conducting raids in the name of copyright enforcement, said Shrichand Asvani, Founder President of the Pimpri Merchant Federation. He claimed that officials often trouble traders without following proper legal procedures and attempt to extort money from them.

According to a press statement issued by Shrichand Asvani, similar incidents have occurred three times earlier in Pimpri Camp, and a similar attempt was made again on Monday afternoon. However, due to the unity shown by traders, the officials were forced to leave without taking action. He appealed to traders to remain united and collectively oppose illegal raids conducted without proper legal process.

On Monday (March 30) afternoon, some officials entered a shop near Sai Chowk in Pimpri Camp under the pretext of a copyright inspection. The information quickly spread among traders in the area. In response, traders immediately shut their shops and gathered at Sai Chowk to protest against the alleged high-handedness of the officials.

Seeing the strong unity and opposition from the traders, the officials who had come to conduct the raid were forced to retreat. Most traders in Pimpri Camp kept their shops closed for nearly three hours in protest, Asvani said in a press release.
