Hailstorm and Unseasonal Rain Hit Hinjawadi IT Hub
Pune: In a sudden weather change, parts of Hinjawadi IT hub witnessed a hailstorm accompanied by unseasonal rain on Sunday, creating a rare and dramatic scene in the area.
Known as Pune’s busy IT corridor, Hinjawadi briefly resembled a hill station as hailstones covered roads, vehicles, and open spaces, with many residents comparing the scene to Shimla. The sudden weather change surprised commuters and residents, causing minor disruption to traffic and normal movement in some areas.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier predicted unseasonal rainfall in parts of Maharashtra, and the forecast proved accurate as hailstorms and rain were reported not only in Hinjawadi but also in several other parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
The unexpected rain brought temporary relief from rising temperatures, though authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as changing weather patterns are being observed across the region.
