Man Beaten with Belts and Blunt Object After Spitting Row Near Mahalunge

Pune : The South Mahalunge Police have registered a case against four men for allegedly assaulting an employee of a private company after accusing him of spitting from a moving company bus.

The incident took place on Friday night at Nighoje on the Mahalunge–Talawade Road. The victim, who sustained injuries to his head, face and back, later approached the South Mahalunge Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad police) and lodged a complaint.

According to police officials, the complainant was returning home in a company bus after completing his second shift. When the vehicle reached the Nighoje area, three men reportedly intercepted the bus and forced the driver to stop.

The suspects allegedly claimed that someone from inside the bus had spat out of the window and that it had fallen on them. While they questioned the passengers about the incident, the victim, who was seated near the driver’s cabin, stepped forward to understand what had happened.

Police said the men mistakenly believed that he was responsible for spitting from the bus and asked him to step outside. When he got down from the bus, he reportedly noticed that one of his colleagues was standing with the three men.

The accused then allegedly attacked him using a blunt object and belts, causing multiple injuries. After the assault, the attackers fled the spot in their vehicle.

Police have registered a case under sections 115 and 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means. Efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest the accused.
