Rs. 60 Crore Storm Rocks PCMC House: ‘Scam or Loot ?’ Sparks Explosive Showdown
Pimpri : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) general body meeting witnessed massive uproar on Tuesday over an alleged Rs. 60 crore financial irregularity, with both ruling and opposition members cornering the administration.
The heated debate revolved around whether the issue was a “scam” or merely “procedural irregularities,” leading to sharp exchanges across party lines.
Corporator Raju Bansode demanded an immediate detailed report and strict action against those responsible. However, BJP corporator Yogita Nagargoje stated that the issue should not be termed a scam.
NCP corporator Vaishali Ghodekar called for a thorough inquiry and criminal cases against the accused, while Shiv Sena’s Sulabha Ubale alleged it was a “clear scam,” claiming approvals were granted bypassing due process.
NCP’s Yogesh Behl accused the administration of violating rules and demanded a halt to contractor payments and action against officials. Sandeep Waghere warned of filing a criminal case if no FIR is registered, while Anant Korhale demanded annual audits of officials.
Shiv Sena corporator Nilesh Barne raised concerns over actions in Wakad, and Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir termed the issue a “daylight robbery,” demanding strict administrative control.
Other members, including Jitendra Nanavare and Aishwarya Taras, highlighted misuse of funds and growing indiscipline among officials.
Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne held the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) primarily responsible, alleging that payments were released without proper approval and sub-provisions were misused.
BJP corporators Shatrughan Kate and Rahul Jadhav demanded transparency, while Sanjay Kate sought clarity from the Commissioner. Rahul Kalate criticized the focus on this issue over pressing civic problems.
Mayor Ravi Landge directed the Commissioner to take clear action. Responding to the concerns, the Commissioner assured that a detailed report would be submitted and strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
The controversy has intensified political tensions within PCMC, with further developments expected after the inquiry report is submitted.
