Administration Assures Action on Farmers’ Demands Over Pavana Pipeline Project

Pune : A coordination meeting between protesting farmers and the administration over the Pavana Closed Pipeline Project was held at the District Collector’s office on Monday. Convened at the initiative of Maval MP Shrirang Barne, the meeting witnessed positive discussions on the farmers’ long-pending demands.

The meeting was attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, MLA Sunil Shelke, former minister Bala Bhegade, PCMC Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, PMRDA Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari, senior officials, and representatives of dam-affected farmers.

The farmers demanded adequate compensation and alternate land for acquired properties, reservation of water for Maval, supply of clean drinking water to villages, a 5% reservation in PCMC jobs for dam-affected families, and measures to keep the Pavana River pollution-free.

District Collector Dudi assured the farmers that the administration was positive about resolving their concerns. MP Shrirang Barne said efforts were underway to implement the project while ensuring that no injustice is caused to the affected farmers.
