From Classroom to Cockpit : Focus on Skills, Says Barne
- IIAE’s new academic year begins with a call for excellence in aviation and aerospace education
Pune : Students should focus on acquiring world-class professional skills in the aviation sector rather than merely earning a degree, as the industry is emerging as one of the fastest-growing sectors with immense career opportunities, said Abhishek Barne, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the 2026-27 academic session at the Indira Institute of Aircraft Engineering (IIAE) in Manjari, Hadapsar. The event was attended by Founder Director F. S. Giri and Director Narendra F. Giri.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Barne highlighted the vast opportunities in aviation and aeronautical engineering, stating that admission to a reputed institution like IIAE marks the beginning of a promising career. He said the practical training, technical knowledge and discipline imparted by the institute would help students succeed in the global aviation industry.
He also noted that Pune and the Pimpri-Chinchwad region have long been recognised as centres of industrial and educational excellence. With rapid technological advancements, students must equip themselves with modern skills and global standards to remain competitive, he added.
IIAE, which has been imparting aviation education for the past 16 years, offers DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) programmes along with practical training and placement opportunities at more than 15 leading Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisations and airlines.
