Severe Water Shortage in Ward 16; Immediate Action Demanded
- Shiv Sena Corporator Aishwarya Taras Warns of Protest, Threatens to Shut Ravet Pumping Station
Pimpri : Shiv Sena corporator Aishwarya Rajendra Taras has raised serious concerns over the worsening water shortage in Ward No. 16, covering Kiwale, Ravet, and Mamurdi areas. She met the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner and submitted a formal memorandum, demanding immediate corrective measures.
Issuing a stern warning, Taras stated that if the administration fails to act promptly, she will be forced to shut down the water pumping station in Ravet that supplies water to the city. Shiv Sena leader Rajendra Taras was also present during the meeting.
In the memorandum, Taras highlighted that for the past few days, residents in Kiwale, Ravet, and Mamurdi have been facing inadequate and low-pressure water supply, severely disrupting daily life. Citizens are struggling to access water for household use, schools, and businesses, leading to significant inconvenience.
Despite multiple complaints to the concerned department, no concrete action has been taken so far, which she described as highly alarming. Following a visit to the Ravet pumping station, officials informed that Ward 16 requires a minimum water flow of 1800 units. However, the current supply stands at only 1600–1650 units, resulting in irregular and low-pressure distribution.
Taras has demanded that water supply be immediately increased to 1800 units for smooth and consistent distribution. Additionally, she urged authorities to divert water supply to the Punawale tank from Tathawade instead of Ravet to ease the burden on the existing system.
