38 Landlords Booked in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Failing to Submit Tenant Details
Pimpri : Pimpri-Chinchwad police have booked 38 property owners for not submitting tenant information to authorities while renting out their premises, officials said.
Cases have been registered under Section 223 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita across multiple police stations in the city.
The action follows a special tenant verification drive carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, along with local police teams. The campaign aimed at identifying unverified tenants, with a focus on tracking suspected illegal foreign nationals residing in the area.
“Over the past month, 38 landlords were found to have not furnished mandatory tenant details. Legal action has been initiated against them,” a police officer from the special branch said.
Police have urged property owners to comply with tenant verification norms and submit complete details to their nearest police station to avoid penal action. Citizens have also been requested to alert authorities if they suspect any illegal stay in their neighbourhood.
Officials added that further investigations are underway to trace networks facilitating illegal entry, shelter and employment, with coordination being strengthened with central agencies to curb such activities.
