Commissioner Must Focus on Development, Not Controversies

  • Former MLA Vilas Lande Warns Commissioner Not to Forget City’s Legacy

Pimpri : Former Bhosari MLA Vilas Lande has appealed to the newly appointed Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi and the administration to focus on development works instead of engaging in controversial statements, and to preserve the rich development legacy of Pimpri-Chinchwad city.

In a press release, Lande stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad, known today as a modern industrial and IT hub, has witnessed rapid development over the past few decades and there is a need to preserve this legacy. He said Pimpri-Chinchwad is not just an industrial city but a place where thousands of workers came from different parts of the country and built their dreams, contributing significantly to the city’s growth.

He further said that major industries such as Tata, Bajaj, and Force Motors played a crucial role in shaping the city’s industrial identity. The establishment of Hindustan Antibiotics, the country’s first pharmaceutical manufacturing company, also gave Pimpri-Chinchwad a distinct recognition as an industrial and workers’ city.

Speaking about the city’s development, Lande credited several prominent leaders for their contribution to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s growth, including Sharad Pawar, late Ajit Pawar, Ramkrishna More, Annasaheb Magar, late Ankushrao Landge and late MLA Laxman Jagtap. He said their vision helped build wide roads, flyovers and modern infrastructure in the city.

“We have witnessed the city’s development firsthand and have been part of this journey,” he said.

Lande also appreciated the work of several former municipal commissioners who contributed to the city’s development through action against unauthorized constructions, cleanliness drives and disciplined administration. He mentioned former commissioners Dilip Band, Shrinivas Patil, Shrikar Pardeshi, Ashish Sharma and Rajesh Patil for their administrative efforts.

He hopes that the current Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi would continue working in the same direction and contribute to the city’s development.

Lande concluded by stating that Pimpri-Chinchwad has a rich social, political, cultural, and industrial legacy and has benefited from various central government schemes. He appealed that unnecessary politics should be avoided and efforts should be made to take the city’s development to greater heights.
