Speed Up Structural Plan Work, Directs Minister Madhuri Misal to PMRDA

  • Review meeting held on PMRDA projects, Ring Road, Patal Lok and development plans

Pune : Maharashtra Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal has directed the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to speed up the preparation and implementation of the Structural Plan within the next one to one-and-a-half years. The move aims to resolve pending approvals after the cancellation of the Development Plan (DP) in the PMRDA region.

She was speaking at a review meeting on various town planning schemes, Ring Road projects and other ambitious developments undertaken by PMRDA. The meeting was held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hall at PMRDA’s Akurdi headquarters on June 17. PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi were present.

Misal said that the process of transferring five approved town planning schemes to Pune Municipal Corporation is underway, while decisions on the remaining 15 proposed schemes will be expedited at the government level. She stressed that these schemes are crucial for the future of the Inner Ring Road project.

She also instructed officials to speed up the process of forming a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the ambitious Patal Lok (Twin Tunnel) project. A joint meeting has been proposed to discuss PMC’s HCMT R project, PMRDA’s Ring Road and the Twin Tunnel project.

During the meeting, PMRDA officials informed that large-scale encroachments have taken place on government lands handed over through the District Collector. Drone surveys are being conducted to measure these lands, and the process of updating PMRDA’s name on land records is underway.

The minister directed PMRDA to examine whether encroached lands could be returned to the district administration and replaced with clear, dispute-free land parcels.

She also suggested that PMRDA take initiative to develop an international-level convention centre without waiting for government funding, stating that it could generate revenue and boost regional development.

Misal further asked officials to explore the possibility of granting some construction permissions based on road planning zones until the Structural Plan is finalised, to avoid inconvenience to citizens. She also assured support for implementing UDCPR regulations in the PMRDA region.

Senior PMRDA officials attended the meeting and presented updates on various ongoing projects and planning initiatives.
