Ashtavinayak Temples at Morgaon, Theur and Siddhatek to Remain Closed for Devotees from May 10 to June 9
Pune : Three prominent Ashtavinayak temples — Shri Mayureshwar Temple at Morgaon, Shri Chintamani Temple at Theur, and Shri Siddhivinayak Temple at Siddhatek — will remain completely closed for devotees from May 10 to June 9, 2026, due to conservation and restoration work being carried out under the Ashtavinayak Development Plan.
According to the Archaeology Department, the work includes preservation, renovation, and structural strengthening of the temples while maintaining their traditional architectural style. Authorities said heavy footfall during the work period could hamper the restoration process and delay completion.
The decision was taken following approval from the Joint Charity Commissioner after consultations with the Archaeology Department, temple authorities, priests, and local villagers.
While daily rituals and religious ceremonies will continue during the closure period, devotees will not be allowed entry into the temple premises or permitted direct darshan. Only priests, authorised officials, staff members, trustees, and construction personnel will be allowed inside.
Authorities have appealed to devotees and citizens to cooperate with the administration to ensure the restoration work is completed smoothly and on time.
