Rohit Pawar Demands Tukaram Mundhe as MPSC Chairman Amid Paper Leak Row

PUNE : The alleged leak of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination paper for the post of Drug Inspector has triggered political controversy in Maharashtra and sparked anger among aspirants.

NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar has taken an aggressive stand on the issue and demanded that IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe be appointed as the Chairman of the MPSC.

Pawar said he had studied the eligibility criteria for the post and claimed that Mundhe could be appointed as MPSC Chairman under the existing conditions.

Students take out protest march in Pune

Following reports of the Drug Inspector examination paper leak, a large number of MPSC aspirants took to the streets in Pune to protest against the incident. Rohit Pawar and several opposition leaders also participated in the march.

The protesters demanded the resignation of MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar and sought strict action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak. They also demanded that responsibility for the incident be fixed and that the guilty persons be punished.

Rohit Pawar levels allegations against Vivek Bhimanwar

Rohit Pawar levelled serious allegations against MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar and claimed that his career had remained controversial. He also raised questions over Bhimanwar’s previous tenure in government service.

“MPSC’s Chairman himself is controversial. There have been several irregularities in the department where he previously worked. Vivek Bhimanwar’s career itself has been controversial. Many people had opposed his appointment,” Pawar alleged.

Pawar further claimed that he had submitted evidence to the Chief Minister and Governor regarding alleged corruption during Bhimanwar’s tenure as a commissioner. He also raised allegations concerning alleged irregularities in the RTO department.

“We have so far brought only 40 per cent of the evidence before everyone. We will continue the fight, and this man must resign,” Pawar said.

‘Appoint Tukaram Mundhe as MPSC Chairman’

Speaking about the way forward, Pawar proposed Tukaram Mundhe’s name for the MPSC Chairman’s post.

“Appoint Tukaram Mundhe as the Chairman of the MPSC. I have checked everything. As per the conditions, Tukaram Mundhe can become the Chairman,” Pawar said.

Pawar also alleged that if no action was taken against Bhimanwar, it would amount to the Chief Minister shielding him. He further claimed that Bhimanwar was a friend of the Chief Minister.

The allegations have added a political dimension to the controversy surrounding the alleged MPSC paper leak, while students continue to demand transparency, accountability and strict action in the matter.
