Pune Likely to Get Slight Relief as Temperatures May Dip

Pune: The city continues to witness summer heat, with maximum temperatures around 39°C over the past two days, though conditions remain below official heatwave levels.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in Pune are expected to fall by 1–2°C during the first week of May, bringing limited relief to residents. However, daytime weather is likely to remain warm, with partly cloudy skies at isolated places.

Across Maharashtra, temperatures have started declining gradually after peak summer highs. Officials said weather systems, including cyclonic circulation and a trough from north Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar, are influencing the current pattern.

Several districts still recorded intense heat in the last 24 hours. Akola and Amravati reported 45.2°C, while Wardha recorded 45°C. Other hot regions included Dhule, Jalgaon, Nagpur and Yavatmal.

The recent heat has also affected fruit crops such as mango and cashew, with farmers reporting fruit drop and heat damage.

Overall, Pune is likely to see only a slight reduction in temperatures in the coming days.
