Gadkari unveils CIRT’s Diamond Jubilee logo as institute enters 60th year
- Year-long celebrations to focus on road safety, cybersecurity and future mobility
PIMPRI : Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday unveiled the Diamond Jubilee logo of the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), marking the beginning of the institute’s year-long celebrations to commemorate 60 years of its establishment.
CIRT Director Dr Devendra Singh led a delegation that met Gadkari and formally launched the Diamond Jubilee Year (2026-27). The celebrations will continue from September 2026 to September 2027.
The new logo carries the theme “Ensuring Safer & Secure Mobility”, highlighting CIRT’s focus on road safety, secure transportation, technological innovation and emerging mobility solutions.
During the meeting, the CIRT delegation invited Gadkari to Pune for the formal inauguration of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. A formal invitation letter and a framed invitation were presented to the Union minister.
The delegation included CIRT’s Head of Technical Secretariat Shekhar Dhole, Head of Automotive Cybersecurity Farukh Makhdoom and Head of Research and Consultancy Umesh Suryawanshi.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee year, CIRT has planned a series of technical, research and awareness programmes. These include a national workshop and technology showcase on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies, as well as the inauguration of an automotive cybersecurity penetration-testing laboratory.
The institute also plans specialised workshops on the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) and safety regulations for bus body builders, vehicle manufacturers and electric vehicle makers.
Other initiatives include programmes on automotive cybersecurity, connected mobility, cyber resilience, vehicle registration and fitness, and AI-based automated driving test systems.
A national road safety awareness campaign, podcast and knowledge series featuring policymakers and industry experts, along with a road safety compendium and commemorative calendar, are also planned during the year.
Established in 1967, CIRT is based in Pune and works in vehicle and component testing, certification, research, consultancy and training. The institute also supports capacity building for transport officials and works with State Transport Undertakings across the country.
The Diamond Jubilee year is expected to focus on strengthening CIRT’s role in road safety, vehicle technology and the evolving mobility ecosystem.
