Five-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Run Over by Garbage Collection Vehicle in Nigdi
- Tragic accident in Sainathnagar leaves residents shocked; driver and vehicle detained
Pimpri : A five-year-old girl died after being crushed under a garbage collection vehicle in the Sainathnagar area of Nigdi on Monday afternoon.
According to police, the incident took place at around 12.10 pm in front of Audumber Society in Sainathnagar, Nigdi. A Mahindra Supro garbage collection vehicle (MH-14-HG-7123) had arrived in the area to collect garbage when it allegedly hit a two-wheeler parked on the roadside.
The impact caused the two-wheeler to hit Sanskriti Bhagwat Biradar (5), a resident of Audumber Society, Yamunanagar, Nigdi. She fell under the garbage collection vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was immediately rushed to Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi for treatment. However, doctors examined her and declared her dead.
Following the accident, police detained the garbage collection vehicle along with its driver Rahul Pralhad Chavan (28), a resident of Sane Chowk, Chikhali, and Raju Kumar Gaikwad (38), a resident of Rajnagar, Otascheme, Nigdi.
Police said the process of registering a case against the driver and the concerned person in connection with the accident is underway. Further investigation is being conducted. The tragic incident has left residents of Sainathnagar and Yamunanagar shocked and mourning the death of the young girl.
