Amit Gorkhe Demands Action After Woman Dies in Cable Accident
Pimpri : MLC Amit Gorkhe on Monday demanded strict action after a woman allegedly died after getting entangled in a hanging Wi-Fi cable in Sector 26, Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The deceased was identified as Sampada Patwardhan. According to Gorkhe, she was returning home from Dnyan Prabodhini School when the accident occurred near Sheet Chhaya area. A low-hanging cable reportedly got caught around her neck, leading to her death.
Calling the incident a “death trap”, Gorkhe said the tragedy was caused by negligence and failure to remove dangerous overhead internet and cable wires spread across the city.
He said he has written to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and concerned departments, seeking urgent intervention.
Gorkhe demanded financial assistance for the victim’s family, removal of all hazardous hanging cables within 24 hours, cancellation of the responsible company’s licence, and registration of a criminal case.
He also urged authorities to install speed breakers where needed and said he had earlier raised the issue of unauthorised overhead wires with the Urban Development Department.
