MPSC Exam Process to Get More Secure and Transparent

Pune : The Maharashtra government’s high-level Recruitment Examination Task Force held consultations in Pune with students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders to make competitive examination processes, including those conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), more transparent, secure and stable.

Participants raised suggestions on fixed examination schedules, question paper security, vacancies, answer keys, examination centres, grievance redressal and the ‘opting out’ system. The task force has received more than 18,000 emails from across Maharashtra.

Task Force Chairperson V. Radha, Additional Chief Secretary (Services), said the government plans to strengthen security at every stage of question paper preparation, printing, transportation and distribution, with a focus on a “zero leak” examination system.

The task force also proposed a centralised online grievance portal, improved facilities at examination centres and a common registration and fee-payment system for candidates.

Radha said OMR-based examinations will continue for the next one year, instead of online exams. During this period, standard guidelines will be prepared to make OMR examinations more secure, transparent and uniform.

The task force is also studying examination systems followed by the UPSC and state public service commissions in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to identify reforms suitable for Maharashtra.
