Focus on Revenue Generation and Pollution Control of Pimpri-Chinchwad : Abhishek Barne

Pimpri : Pimpri-Chinchwad: Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne on Thursday said that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will focus on two key priorities — income generation and pollution control — to strengthen the civic body’s financial position and ensure sustainable development of the city.

The Standing Committee meeting was held at the main administrative building of PCMC in Pimpri, with Barne presiding over the session. Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, City Secretary Mukesh Kolap, Additional Commissioners Vijaykumar Khorate and Trupti Sandbhor, along with committee members and senior officials, were present at the meeting.

Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Chairman Barne informed that several proposals were approved during the session. He elaborated on the administrative decisions while addressing the media at the Standing Committee Chairman’s chamber.

During the meeting, the committee approved a request submitted by employees working in the Municipal Corporation’s Chief Accounts Department regarding leave sanction.

The committee also approved an expenditure of Rs 7.5 lakh for various programmes organised by the municipal corporation on February 27, 2026, to mark Marathi Language Pride Day. The expenditure includes honorariums for artists and speakers, as well as cultural programmes conducted as part of the celebration.

Action Plan to Control Pollution

Taking serious note of complaints that safety norms are being ignored at construction sites across the city, Chairman Barne has directed officials to take strict measures.

He stated that special inspection drives will be conducted to ensure compliance with safety norms and to control dust pollution arising from construction activities.

“To prevent an increase in dust levels and to safeguard public health, two special inspection teams will be deployed to monitor construction safety and environmental compliance at major project sites,” Barne said.

He also instructed regional offices to regularly monitor the progress and safety standards of large construction works within their respective jurisdictions.
