Ganeshotsav Preparations Gain Pace in Pimpri-Chinchwad

• PCMC Steps Up Sanitation and Immersion Arrangements Ahead of the Festival

Pimpri : Ahead of the upcoming Ganeshotsav, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has stepped up preparations to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services across the city and provide adequate facilities for Ganesh idol immersion.

A review meeting of the civic body’s Health Department was held to assess various measures being undertaken to maintain cleanliness and provide necessary facilities to citizens during the festival. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Thengal reviewed the preparations and directed officials to complete all arrangements well in advance.

The meeting was held in the PCMC’s headquarter under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi and Additional Commissioner Kuldeep Jangam. Assistant Health Officers Shriram Gaikwad, Raju Sable, Sudhir Waghmare, Mahesh Adhav, Ankush Zite, Rajesh Bhat, Atul Sonawane, Chief Health Inspector Vaibhav Gholve and other concerned officials and employees were present.

Focus on cleanliness and coordination

Dr. Thengal directed all concerned departments to work in coordination and ensure effective sanitation arrangements throughout the Ganesh festival. He instructed officials to maintain regular cleanliness at public places, major roads, areas surrounding Ganesh mandals and idol immersion routes. Adequate manpower, equipment and sanitation facilities should be deployed at immersion sites on time to prevent inconvenience to citizens, he said.

Nirmalya collection points and artificial immersion ponds

The civic administration has planned dedicated nirmalya collection points and adequate artificial water ponds at Ganesh idol immersion locations. Dr. Thengal directed officials to ensure effective collection of nirmalya (floral and other religious offerings) and make arrangements for its regular removal and proper disposal. Considering the large number of citizens expected to visit immersion sites during the festival, sufficient sanitation workers should be deployed to manage the additional workload, officials were instructed.

Special focus on immersion routes

The meeting also reviewed sanitation arrangements along Ganesh idol immersion procession routes. Officials were instructed to ensure that garbage does not accumulate along the procession routes and that regular cleaning is carried out in areas surrounding Ganesh mandals and other public places. The civic body has also been directed to undertake immediate cleaning of immersion sites and procession routes after the processions, so that the areas can be restored to normal at the earliest.

Dr. Thengal said all concerned departments must work in coordination on sanitation, nirmalya collection, artificial immersion ponds and other facilities at immersion sites. He stressed that all necessary preparations should be completed on time to ensure that citizens have a clean, safe and well-organised Ganeshotsav across Pimpri-Chinchwad.
