Man Allegedly Assaulted with Metal Knuckle Duster at PCMC’s Waghire Swimming Pool; Four Booked
Old dispute cited as reason for attack; incident raises questions over security and management of civic facility
PIMPRI : A 48-year-old man was allegedly abused and assaulted with a metal knuckle duster (fighter) at the Waghire Swimming Pool, operated by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), over a previous dispute. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of citizens and the management of the civic facility.
The complainant, Jayprakash Harish Vaswani (48), a resident of Tapovan Mandir Road, Pimpri, lodged a complaint at Pimpri Police Station. A case has been registered against Jayanath Fadtare, Akshay Bhokare and two swimming pool employees.
According to police, the incident occurred between 7.20 am and 7.30 am on November 3, when Vaswani visited the pool for his regular swimming session. The accused allegedly abused him over an old dispute and asked him to leave, reportedly saying, “I have the tender; I will decide what to do.”
While Vaswani was leaving through the main entrance, the first accused allegedly grabbed him by the collar and assaulted him with kicks and punches. He also allegedly attacked him with a metal knuckle duster on the waist, ribs, chest and upper arms.
The incident has raised questions about who controls the pool’s operations, the authority of contractors to restrict public access, the role of employees and the security arrangements at the municipal facility.
Police Constable Chapte is conducting further investigation.
