Amit Gorhe Skips Birthday Celebrations, Extends Diwali Aid to Drought-Hit Families
MLA to distribute food kits in Marathwada and Ahilyanagar; announces donation to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : Emphasising social responsibility over personal celebrations, MLC Amit Gorhe has decided not to celebrate his birthday with grand festivities this year. Instead, he has chosen to extend assistance to drought-affected villages and tribal settlements in Marathwada and Ahilyanagar district.
As part of the initiative, food grain kits containing essential commodities and Diwali faral (festive snacks) are being sent to needy families in remote tribal settlements to help them celebrate the festival despite difficult circumstances.
Gorhe has also announced that he will make a substantial contribution to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support farmers affected by the drought-like situation across the state. The initiative aims to provide relief to farmers facing financial difficulties and help them overcome the ongoing crisis.
Explaining his decision, Gorhe said that standing with distressed farmers and needy families during difficult times was more important than spending money on personal celebrations.
“Instead of spending on birthday celebrations, the money should reach drought-affected farmers and needy families. Farmers, who feed the nation, are facing a difficult situation. Everyone should come forward to support them. This year, we wish to celebrate Diwali with families in drought-affected regions,” he said.
Gorhe also appealed to citizens to contribute according to their capacity and extend support to distressed farming families.
His decision has drawn appreciation from social and political circles for prioritising public welfare over personal celebrations.
