App Workers Stage Protest at PCMC Headquarters; Two Detained

Slogans against Municipal Commissioner echo through civic headquarters; closure of main gate triggers confrontation between citizens and security personnel

Pimpri-Chinchwad : Activists of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged an aggressive protest at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) headquarters on Monday, raising slogans against the civic administration and the Municipal Commissioner. The protest created a tense atmosphere on the premises, with police detaining two protesters.

The protesters raised slogans such as, “What should be done with this Commissioner? Turn him upside down!” and “Who is this Commissioner? Call him down!” Their aggressive sloganeering reflected their anger against the municipal administration.

Meanwhile, the protest also disrupted access to the civic headquarters. As a precautionary measure, the main entrance gate was closed, preventing citizens visiting the municipal office from entering the premises. This led to heated arguments between citizens and security personnel.

Questioning the restrictions, citizens asked why ordinary people were being denied entry to a public institution in a democracy. The situation escalated, prompting police personnel to intervene to restore order. However, their intervention further heightened tensions at the entrance for some time.

Following growing pressure from citizens, the main entrance gate was eventually reopened, allowing people to enter and exit the premises.

The protest, forceful sloganeering, police intervention and temporary closure of the main gate created a tense atmosphere at the PCMC headquarters for some time.
