PCMC Neglects Death Anniversary of Former Minister Ramkrishna More, Alleges Congress

City Congress chief Narendra Bansode protests omission; demands action against responsible officials

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has come under criticism for allegedly failing to pay tribute to former minister and senior leader Professor Ramkrishna More on his death anniversary on Monday.

City Congress president Narendra Bansode strongly condemned the civic administration, alleging that no floral tribute was offered near the PCMC headquarters or at the portrait of More inside the Ramkrishna More Auditorium.

Following the alleged lapse, Bansode submitted a letter to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, demanding an explanation from the concerned officials and appropriate administrative action against those responsible.

In his letter, Bansode highlighted More’s significant contribution to the development of Pimpri-Chinchwad, particularly in the fields of education, social welfare and culture. He also referred to important initiatives associated with More, including the establishment of YCM Hospital, cultural auditoriums and educational reforms introduced during his tenure as Education Minister.

Bansode said it was disappointing that a leader who played a major role in transforming Pimpri-Chinchwad from a small town into an important industrial and urban centre was allegedly omitted from the civic body’s list of eminent personalities to be honoured on their birth and death anniversaries.

Meanwhile, Congress party representatives paid floral tribute to More’s portrait at the Ramkrishna More Auditorium.

Bansode demanded that More’s name be immediately included in the municipal corporation’s official list of eminent personalities and that the administration ensure such omissions do not recur.
