37,687 Cases Settled Amicably at National Lok Adalat in Pune

• 7,744 pending court cases and 29,943 pre-litigation matters resolved

PUNE : A total of 37,687 cases were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat organised across Pune district and all taluka courts under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority.

The Lok Adalat was organised under the guidance of Anju S. Shende, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of the Pune District Legal Services Authority. A total of 2,59,035 cases were placed before the Lok Adalat for settlement. These included pending civil and criminal cases as well as pre-litigation matters related to cheque dishonour, motor accident compensation, family disputes, bank recovery, land acquisition and electricity bills, among others.

Of the total settlements, 7,744 were pending court cases, out of 84,920 cases placed before the Lok Adalat. Another 29,943 pre-litigation cases were settled out of 1,74,115 cases. The settlement process helped litigants save time, effort and legal expenses. It also helped promote amicable resolution of family, property and other disputes.

Judicial officers, lawyers, banks, insurance companies, government departments and litigants actively participated in the successful conduct of the National Lok Adalat.
