Extension Granted for Auto-Rickshaw Permit Registration

• Pune RTA allows additional time amid permit restrictions

PUNE : The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Pune, has extended the deadline for registration of auto-rickshaws and taxis under letters of intent and replacement vehicles, in view of the ongoing permit restrictions.

Letters of intent whose 180-day validity expired on or after January 1, 2026 will be eligible for a one-time extension of another 180 days, provided applications are submitted by September 30, 2026. The extension will also apply to cases submitted for registration by March 9, 2026, where registration numbers have not yet been issued.

For registration of replacement vehicles, the deadline has been extended until December 31, 2026. Permit holders obtaining a replacement vehicle after September 1, 2026 will be given a maximum period of one year from the date of replacement to complete the registration process.

The RTA has clarified that permits will be cancelled if the registration process is not completed within the prescribed deadline.
