Pimpri : In a bid to address the growing electricity demand in Pimpri-Chinchwad and adjoining areas, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has accelerated the development of new substations and extra high voltage (EHV) infrastructure across key locations.
New substations are planned in Pimpri, Chinchwad, Thergaon, Ravet and the pilgrimage town of Dehu, aimed at strengthening and streamlining power supply in both residential and industrial zones.
A detailed review of ongoing, pending and proposed projects was conducted at MSEDCL’s Pune regional office. The meeting was attended by regional director Sunil Kakade, superintending engineer Singhjirao Gaikwad, along with officials including Yuvraj Jarg, Sanjay Nete, Somnath Munde, Shekhar Murkute and Keshav Kalumali.
Approval has been granted for setting up an EHV substation at Tathawade, to be developed on land belonging to Yashada. The land acquisition process is currently underway. Work on a similar high-capacity facility in Rahatani is also progressing, with plans to install new transformers.
In Mamurdi, the existing substation will be upgraded, along with the laying of a 22 kV underground power line. Additionally, a proposal has been prepared to enhance the capacity of the EHV substation at Ambi in Talegaon MIDC.
Officials said these projects are expected to significantly improve power distribution reliability in Pimpri-Chinchwad and nearby areas, ensuring a stable electricity supply for both industries and households.
