Car Vandalised With Iron Sickle in Chinchwad
– Five booked after alleged threats to bystanders during attack in Sambhajinagar area
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : A car was allegedly vandalised with an iron sickle in the Sambhajinagar area of Chinchwad on September 30, creating panic among residents. The Nigdi police have registered a case against five persons in connection with the incident.
According to the police, the incident took place around 5.15 pm in front of Vrindavan Society near Rameshwar Temple. The accused allegedly attacked a Volkswagen Vento (MH 14 CS 1625) belonging to Rishikesh Sanjay Varadi, 28, which was parked along the roadside.
The accused allegedly damaged the car’s windows and bonnet with an iron sickle, causing an estimated loss of around ₹25,000.
The complaint states that while vandalising the vehicle, the accused allegedly threatened people present at the spot with dire consequences, leading to fear among residents.
Based on Varadi’s complaint, the Nigdi police registered a case against Nagesh Chopde, Abhishek Yadav, Abhishek Gosavi, Siddharth Mane and another associate under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Indian Arms Act, Maharashtra Police Act and Criminal Amendment Act.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Prashant Dhole and Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bansode visited the spot after receiving information about the incident.
The police have launched a search for the accused. Police Sub-Inspector Mukesh Gaikwad is conducting further investigation.
