MLC Amit Gorkhe Donates ₹2.51 Lakh to CM Relief Fund for Drought-Hit Farmers on Birthday
MLC hands over cheque to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, choosing social service over birthday celebrations
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Marking his birthday with a gesture of social responsibility, Maharashtra Legislative Council Member (MLC) Amit Gorkhe has donated ₹2.51 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support drought-affected farmers in Maharashtra.
Instead of spending on grand birthday celebrations and customary festivities, Gorkhe chose to extend financial assistance to farmers facing difficult circumstances. He recently handed over a cheque for ₹2.51 lakh to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a courtesy meeting at Mantralaya.
Gorkhe said that standing firmly with farmers during times of crisis and providing support to those in need is a fundamental responsibility of elected representatives. He emphasised that personal celebrations should also serve as an opportunity to contribute to society.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appreciated Gorkhe’s gesture and commended his decision to dedicate his birthday to a social cause. He observed that such initiatives by public representatives could inspire others in political and social spheres to undertake similar public welfare activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Gorkhe said, “Standing by our farmers during difficult times and bringing hope into the lives of those in need is my social responsibility. The trust reposed in me by the people can be repaid only through dedicated public service.”
The initiative by MLC Amit Gorkhe has drawn appreciation from various sections of society in Pimpri-Chinchwad and across Maharashtra, highlighting the importance of social responsibility among public representatives.
