PMRDA Reviews Monsoon Preparedness for Hinjawadi IT Park

Pune : A joint disaster management meeting was held at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) headquarters in Akurdi to review monsoon preparedness and address recurring flooding and traffic issues in the Hinjawadi IT Park area.

The meeting was chaired by Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, who directed officials to take immediate measures to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth movement for residents and commuters during the rainy season.

Officials were instructed to focus on clearing blocked drains, removing encroachments, and widening natural streams to improve water flow in and around Hinjawadi and Maan. Authorities said all pre-monsoon works must be completed by May 31, 2026.

During the review, officials were warned that any flooding or disaster caused due to negligence or poor planning would lead to action under the Disaster Management Act.

The administration also stressed coordination among agencies including PMRDA, MIDC, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), local gram panchayats and the Irrigation Department.

Those present included petitioner Sachin Londhe of the Unclog Hinjawadi IT Park initiative, Additional Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi, Avinash Patil, Poonam Mehta and Vivek Patil.

The review comes amid repeated monsoon flooding and traffic disruptions in the Hinjawadi IT corridor.
