PCMC Intensifies Cleanliness Drive Ahead of Swachh Survekshan 2026

Pimpri : The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its cleanliness campaign across the city in preparation for the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2026 survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Field verification for the national cleanliness survey is expected to begin during March.

In this backdrop, the civic administration has launched a special drive to create a garbage-free, clean and beautiful Pimpri-Chinchwad. Joint teams from various municipal departments have been formed to improve waste management and ensure effective implementation of sanitation measures. The administration is focusing on waste segregation, clean roads and maintaining cleanliness at public places across the city.

The civic body has set a target of achieving 100 percent waste segregation in the city. Housing societies, shops and commercial establishments that fail to separate wet, dry, hazardous and sanitary waste may face penal action. The health department is also closely monitoring waste collection to ensure timely disposal and prevent garbage accumulation at public places.

Special cleanliness drives are being conducted on major roads, intersections, markets and internal streets, while dedicated teams have been deployed to maintain garbage-bin-free areas. The administration is also focusing on maintenance, cleanliness and uninterrupted water and electricity supply at public and community toilets.

Citizens’ participation is considered crucial for the survey. Awareness programmes, rallies and cleanliness competitions are being organised in schools and housing societies to promote waste segregation and hygiene.

Mayor Ravi Landge said the city is determined to rank among the cleanest cities in the country, while Commissioner Shravan Hardikar appealed to citizens to support the initiative by maintaining cleanliness and sharing positive feedback on the Swachhata app.
