PCMC Cracks Down on Unauthorised Advertising Boards
- 40×30-foot advertising board removed from Tathawade Road; agencies warned of immediate action
PIMPRI : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its drive against unauthorised advertising hoardings, removing a 40×30-foot unauthorised advertising board erected without permission at Vishnudev Nagar on Tathawade Road in Punawale on Tuesday.
The action was carried out by the civic body’s Sky Sign and Licence Department under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Licence) Rajesh Agale. The entire structure, including its iron framework, was removed during the operation.
Under Sections 244 and 245 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act and the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations (Sky Signs and Sky Signs) and Regulation and Control of Display of Advertisements Rules, 2022, prior permission from the municipal corporation is mandatory for erecting advertising hoardings on private properties.
The civic administration said unauthorised hoardings not only affect the city’s appearance but also result in revenue loss to the municipal corporation. It has therefore stepped up inspections and removal action across the city.
In the past month, PCMC has removed unauthorised hoardings at Tathawade, Thermax Chowk, on the building of Samarth Co-operative Bank and at Survey No. 175/9 on Kalbhait Road in Chovisawadi.
The civic body has warned all advertising agencies against installing hoardings without prior permission. Any unauthorised structure found in the city will be removed immediately, officials said.
