Nigerian Woman Deported for Illegal Stay in Pimpri-Chinchwad
- Foreigners Registration Division takes action after woman found staying without valid passport or visa
Pimpri : The Foreigners Registration Division under Special Branch-2 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has taken action against a Nigerian woman found to be staying illegally in the city and deported her to Nigeria.
The action followed confidential information received by the Foreigners Registration Division that a foreign national was residing illegally within the jurisdiction of the Hinjewadi police station. During an inquiry, officials found that the woman did not possess a valid passport or visa.
Her biometric details were subsequently verified online through the DPM system, following which she was identified as Gift Okoh, a Nigerian national.
According to the police, Okoh had entered India on September 23, 2014, on a medical visa. She had previously stayed in Jaipur and Palghar before moving to the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. However, the investigation revealed that she continued to stay in India even after the validity of her passport and visa had expired.
As she did not possess valid travel documents, the police obtained an Emergency Travel Document from the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi and an Exit Permit from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Mumbai.
She was subsequently deported to Nigeria from Mumbai International Airport on September 8, 2026.
Police officials said that efforts to identify foreign nationals staying illegally within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate will continue, and further action will be taken against those found violating immigration and visa regulations.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioners Sarang Awad and Dr Basavaraj Teli, Deputy Commissioner Dheeraj Patil and Assistant Commissioner Sunil Pandharkar.
The action was carried out by Special Branch-2 Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Narawad, Assistant Police Inspector Rajashree Pawara and their team.
