YCM Dean Faces Show-Cause Notice After Atrocity Case
PCMC Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi seeks explanation within two days; warns of ex parte action
Pimpri-Chinchwad : The troubles of Dr Rajendra Wable, Dean of Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital, are likely to mount after a case was registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi has issued a show-cause notice to Wable, directing him to submit his explanation within two days.
The notice warns that if Wable fails to respond within the stipulated period, the municipal administration may proceed with ex parte action based on the available documents. It also seeks an explanation as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him.
The case was registered at Sant Tukaramnagar Police Station following a complaint by Dr Dnyaneshwar Borade, a former assistant professor at YCM Hospital. The matter has prompted the municipal administration to initiate proceedings and seek an explanation from the hospital dean.
Appointment Dispute at the Centre of Controversy
Dr Borade was working as an assistant professor at YCM Hospital. A dispute had reportedly developed between him and Dr Wable over his appointment, alleged absence from duty, a departmental inquiry and the action taken to terminate his services.
According to Borade’s complaint, he visited the hospital on August 10 to obtain an experience certificate. When he sought clarification regarding records related to his appointment, Wable allegedly used caste-based slurs against him and humiliated him in a public place.
Following these allegations, the police registered a case under the Atrocities Act. The allegations are yet to be established.
Attention is now focused on the explanation Dr Wable submits within the deadline and the subsequent action, if any, taken by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
