Shankar Jagtap Donates ₹11 Lakh to Drought-Hit Farmers

Chinchwad MLA hands over contribution to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund; pledges continued support for affected farmers

PIMPRI: In a bid to support farmers facing drought conditions, crop losses and financial distress, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap and Viju Jagtap of Chandrarang Developers and Builders have taken the initiative to contribute ₹11 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The cheque was handed over to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to support relief efforts for drought-affected farmers across the state.

Drought poses a serious challenge to farming families, affecting not only agricultural production but also their livelihoods. Crop damage, declining incomes and mounting financial pressures often leave farmers struggling to meet their daily needs. The contribution aims to support efforts to provide relief to farmers during this difficult period.

Agriculture remains a key pillar of the Indian economy, and the well-being of farmers is closely linked to the strength of the rural economy. The initiative seeks to extend practical assistance to those affected by drought.

Advocate Sakharam Kolse Patil, Nilesh Pawar and Pravin Jagtap were present on the occasion.

Jagtap has previously extended financial assistance to needy families in Pimpri-Chinchwad for educational and medical purposes. According to the statement, he will continue supporting drought-affected farmers in line with the directions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking about the contribution, Jagtap said farmers should feel that society stands firmly behind them during times of crisis.

“Farmers are the backbone of our economy. However, natural calamities such as drought force them to face several hardships. It is important for them to realise that they are not alone and that society stands with them. With this sentiment, we have contributed ₹11 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” he said.

He added that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was committed to extending assistance to every section of society.
