Shankar Jagtap Leads Eco-Friendly Ganeshotsav Drive
- 10,800 PCMC school students make Shadu clay idols across 84 schools
Pimpri : Promoting an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, BJP MLA Shankar Jagtap has taken an initiative to encourage students to celebrate the festival while creating awareness about environmental conservation.
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to celebrate Ganeshotsav in an environmentally responsible manner and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s emphasis on strengthening the movement for eco-friendly celebrations, workshops on making Ganesh idols from Shadu clay were organised across Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) schools.
As part of the initiative, around 10,800 students from 84 PCMC schools participated in the workshops conducted through the organisation Kautilya Multi Creation. Students were trained to make Ganesh idols from natural Shadu clay while also being educated about the importance of reducing environmental impact during the festival.
Jagtap also participated in an eco-friendly Ganesh idol-making workshop at PCMC Public School, Pimple Nilakh, where he joined students in making a Ganesh idol from Shadu clay.
He later attended a Shadu clay Ganesh idol-making workshop and prize distribution ceremony at Ramakrishna Mangal Karyalaya in Pimple Gurav. The initiative aimed to encourage creativity among students while instilling a sense of environmental responsibility.
The participation of thousands of students is being viewed as an important step towards promoting eco-friendly Ganeshotsav in the city. The idols made by students with Shadu clay conveyed a message of environmental conservation and responsible celebrations.
The initiative seeks to inspire citizens, particularly the younger generation, to adopt sustainable practices and make environmental protection an integral part of Ganeshotsav celebrations.
