Hinjawadi Techie Accuses Rapido Rider of Harassment, Video Goes Viral
Rider allegedly forced her off mid-journey, demanded payment and shared argument footage online
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD: A 42-year-old software engineer working at an IT company in Hinjawadi has lodged a police complaint against a Rapido bike-taxi rider, alleging harassment and circulation of a video of their argument on social media.
According to the complaint, the woman booked a bike taxi around 1 pm to travel to her workplace. She allegedly asked the rider to take a route via Sunny’s World in Sus, but he refused and insisted on following the route suggested by the app.
The disagreement escalated during the journey, and the rider allegedly stopped on Bavdhan Bridge before reaching her destination and asked her to get off. He reportedly demanded payment for the distance covered, which the woman disputed.
During the confrontation, the rider allegedly recorded the argument and later shared the footage online to defame her. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing the woman arguing with the rider and walking away.
The woman approached Bavdhan police station, where a non-cognisable (NC) offence was registered.Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar confirmed the registration of the NC offence. Further action in such cases generally requires authorisation from a judicial magistrate.
The allegations are yet to be independently verified.
