PCMC Employees to Contribute One Day’s Salary to Drought Relief
Around Rs. 2 crore expected to be deposited in CM’s relief fund; deduction to be made from October salaries
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD: Officials and employees of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will contribute one day’s salary towards drought relief, with approximately Rs. 2 crore expected to be deposited in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi has issued an order directing the civic body to deduct the amount from employees’ October 2026 salaries. The decision follows the Maharashtra government’s appeal to government employees across the state to contribute towards assistance for farmers and people affected by drought.
According to the order, the contribution will be calculated on the basis of basic pay and dearness allowance (DA). The amount will be withheld from the October salary, and the remaining salary will be paid to employees after the deduction.
The PCMC accounts department has been assigned the responsibility of implementing the order and completing the deduction process. The order also states that employees who have objections to the deduction must submit them in writing within two days. However, the contribution will not be less than an amount equivalent to one day’s salary.
The civic administration expects to raise around Rs. 2 crore through the contributions of its officials and employees. The amount will be transferred to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support drought-affected people.
Satyawan Ubale, chief accounts and finance officer of the PCMC, confirmed the decision. “The one-day salary contribution will be made towards assistance for drought-affected people, as directed by the municipal commissioner. Around ₹2 crore will be deposited in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” Ubale said.
The initiative is intended to support the state government’s drought-relief efforts and provide financial assistance to people facing difficulties due to drought conditions.
