International Yoga Day Celebrated in PCMC Schools with Enthusiasm

Students and Teachers Practice Yoga Under ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ Theme

Pimpri : International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across schools run by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) under this year’s theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Students, teachers, and non-teaching staff from a total of 134 PCMC schools — including 110 primary and 24 secondary schools — participated in collective yoga sessions.

Despite the celebration falling on a Sunday, students showed great enthusiasm and attended the programmes in large numbers, demonstrating their awareness and interest in yoga and fitness.

Yoga sessions were organized in the morning at all municipal schools, where students performed Surya Namaskar, various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation exercises. Teachers explained the importance of regular yoga practice and its benefits, including improved flexibility, reduced stress, better concentration, and a healthier lifestyle.

Several schools also conducted yoga awareness activities, health discussions, and educational programmes to promote the importance of physical and mental well-being among students.

PCMC Mayor Ravi Landge said that yoga is India’s valuable gift to the world and every citizen should adopt regular yoga practice for a healthy life. He appreciated the participation of students even on a holiday and said such initiatives play an important role in developing healthy lifestyle habits among children.
