Architects, Licensed Engineers Raise Concerns Over Delays in PCMC Building Permission Process

Association seeks administrative reforms, single-window system and fixed timelines for approvals

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : Architects and licensed engineers have once again raised concerns over the functioning of the Building Permission Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), alleging delays in various permissions, no-objection certificates (NOCs) and approval procedures.

The Creative Forum – Association of Architects and Licensed Engineers has submitted a representation to the PCMC Commissioner, seeking administrative reforms to streamline the building permission process.

The representation was submitted by association president Rahul Kalbhor, secretary Hrishikesh Devre, along with other architects and engineers.

The association has demanded that fixed timelines be prescribed for processing matters related to building permissions across departments such as Town Planning, Water Supply, Drainage, Garden and Fire Brigade.

Demand for Single-Window System

The association has also demanded the introduction of a single-window system, under which departmental remarks and NOCs required for building permissions would be made available through a common online platform.

It has further suggested that applicants should be able to track the entire status of their application online. The system should display the date of each stage, the concerned officer and the current status of the application from the time the proposal is submitted, the association said.

According to the representatives, they have previously submitted representations on four occasions, but claimed that the issues have not been adequately addressed.

The association has now sought a meeting with the civic administration within seven days to discuss its demands. It warned that if the meeting is not convened within the stipulated period, its members may launch a democratic and peaceful protest to press for their demands.
