Four Key Proposals Approved to Boost Sports & Culture in PCMC

Pimpri : A review meeting of the Sports, Art and Literature Committee of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), chaired by Kailas Kute, was held at the main administrative building in Pimpri. The committee approved four significant proposals aimed at strengthening the city’s sports, cultural and social landscape.

Approved Four Significant Proposals

• Art Centres Across the City:
  Proposal cleared to establish dedicated art centres in different areas to promote painting, music, dance and theatre. These centres will support budding artists and provide a platform for local talent.
• Accident Insurance for Players:
  Players participating in municipal sports events will be covered under accident insurance. The civic body will bear the premium to ensure immediate medical support in case of injuries.
• Special Benefits for Women:
  Decision to offer concessions for women in swimming pools, gyms and other sports facilities. Focus on discounted fees, exclusive training and better access to boost participation.
• Department Renaming:
  The Sports Department will be renamed as the “Sports, Art, Literature, Tourism and Cultural Department” to ensure integrated development and policy implementation.

The meeting also emphasized the need for a unified cultural and tourism policy by linking institutions like Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Music Academy (Nigdi), Savitribai Phule Academy (Bopkhel), public libraries, competitive exam centres and Krantiveer Chapekar Wada.

“These decisions will open new opportunities for players, artists and citizens while boosting women’s participation and overall cultural growth of the city,” said committee chairman Kailas Kute.
